The chief aim of initiating the Thatha Patti Kuzhu was to sensitize students towards respecting and honouring all aged people, especially, their grandparents. Grandparents can offer valuable wisdom from their life experiences that may seem incredible to the younger generation. Besides, they can be regarded as role models and mentors to the students.

In order to bridge the gap between the student and the teaching community the college practises the Tutor- Ward system. The teachers meet their respective wards on the first and third Wednesdays of every month. The tutors counsel the students and offer academic and personal guidance. The rules and regulations of the college which include discipline, being respectful, being punctual and systematic in all the academic affairs and to be responsible students which in turn would enable them to become responsible citizens of our nation are reinforced during the meetings. Special academic care is provided to the slow learners by paying individual attention. One-on-one interaction with the wards also takes place to identify their personal problems and to offer essential counselling and guidance to them.
