After receiving the application forms from the college office, a computerized merit list is prepared by the department faculty members on the basis of the marks obtained by the applicants. The merit rank list of all applicants is also published in the college notice board along with their ranks.
An Admission Committee is formed by the college every year to facilitate the admission process. The counselling date and time for each and every course is decided by the committee. The first provisional selection is made by conducting the open counseling on a specified date which is informed to the applicants, well in advance through the notice board. On the date of admission, all original documents are verified and the candidate is admitted after payment of fees.
After the first counseling admission, if there is any vacancy, subsequent counseling is conducted from the waiting list and the vacancies are filled. The course-wise counseling makes the entire admission process very smooth and transparent. For all UG and PG courses, students are also selected strictly on the basis of merit, that is, marks obtained in the last qualifying examination. M.C.A & M.B.A, candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).For M.Phil. courses, an entrance exam is conducted. The admission list is given as per merit. The admission is according to the reservation policies of the Tamil Nadu State Government based on the academic records of the students. 3% of the seats are reserved for physically challenged students, outstanding sports persons and children of ex-servicemen. The government has reserved 69% seats for disadvantaged communities (30% for BC, 20% for MBC, 18% for SC and 1% for ST).
