Department of Geography
The Department of Geography was established in the year1968 with UG course and in the year in 1971 with PG course. At present department have 6 Regular staff members and 2 Guest Lecturers and 1 PTA Guest Lecturers and 259 UG and 29 PG students among its various academic ventures. It produces so many scholars create more professionals in various fields. It is one of the centers for Tamil Nadu Open University for B.Sc., Geography Course.
Vision & Mission
To enlight and enrich the geographic information to the outreached. The mission of the department. Extending geographic knowledge at the school level. Make geography an interesting and inspiring subject to other disciplines. Make maps an indispensable tool to geographers as well as others. Acquire technological development in the global positioning system. Provide a geographical base to regional planning such as rural-urban areas etc. Provide economic development. Provide necessary geographical information for the strategy. Use a geographical positioning system for Navigations. Apply geographical knowledge in the field of survey. Apply geographical knowledge in civil services. Make the student with a strong geographical information technological base. To enlight and enrich the geographic information to the outreached.
